A permanent link test covers the fixed cabling from patch panel to outlet. A channel test includes the full user path, normally adding patch cords at one or both ends. UK installers should quote and record which model they are testing, because it decides who owns a later failure: the fixed installer, the client patch leads or the active equipment setup.

Why this matters on a quote
If the job says “test all points” but not what kind of test, arguments start when a desk fails later.
